2012 Corvette sports interior upgrades and more

at your local Chevy retailer right now. That is, until the 2012 Corvette debuts later this year.
The 2012 C6, while inherently the same car as the current model, will get a number of upgrades that Chevy hopes will lure you into one of its dealerships to lay some green on its hood. Most significant are new seats with more aggressive bolsters and microfiber inserts to keep backside in place during playtime. A new steering wheel features leather-wrapped spokes and new "streamlined" switchgear.
Additional upgrades can be had if you opt for top-line Z06 and ZR1 trim levels, which now offer an upgrade to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires. Why bother dishing out what will no

doubt be a significant expense? According to Corvette's competent team of engineers, the new rubber improves grip by 8-percent. Chevy reportedly tested the new tire package at Virginia International Raceway where it achieved a gain of 3 seconds a lap over its standard tires.
Not enough to get you to crack open your wallet? If a Z06 is in your future plans, the 2012 model will soon be available with an optional carbon fibre hood, plus a full-width rear spoiler, not to mention performance traction control. The ZR1, alternatively, gets taller 5th and 6th gears to improve fuel economy and simultaneously increase top speed.

photos is a special edition slated to go on sale this summer. The Centennial Edition, this one based on a Z06, marks Chevrolet's 100-year birthday celebration with exclusive Carbon Flash Metallic paint, satin black graphics, ultra-light cast-spun wheels, red brake calipers, special badging not the least includes images of Louis Chevrolet added to the B-pillars, wheel centre caps, and the steering wheel. Lastly, the crossed flags Chevrolet logo features a "100" in place of the usual fleur-de-lis.
The Centennial Edition's interior receives ebony leather seats and trim with contrasting red stitching plus microfiber suede accents.
The Centennial Edition package can be added to any Corvette model, from the base coupe right up to the top-line ZR1 by putting a check mark next to the ZLC order code.
