four-seat, LF-LC hybrid concept car. The LF-LC Concept has since made its official debut in Detroit and is said to showcase the future design direction of Lexus.

"The concept we're showing here in Detroit continues the Lexus design revolution started with the CT and GS," said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "The concept hybrid 2+2 liberates the idea of a sport coupe and pushes the boundaries of performance, style and technology."

Lexus says that the LF-LC achieves both performance and efficiency due to its Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain. Exact performance figures haven't been released, but Lexus has confirmed that the LF-LC has a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration.

With its spindle grille, front air intakes and triple-beam headlights, the LF-LC looks pensive and menacing. At the rear the exotic details continue with taillights inspired by jet plane afterburners and four exhaust tips, stacked two to a side. The LF-LC also features a glass roof that enhances driver visibility and should please passengers as well.

The LF-LC's interior features twin 12.3-inch LCD display screens and a centre-stack mounted touch-screen that allows for control of the audio system,

climate controls and the navigation system. Additional touch-screens on the doors allow control of the seat positioning, mirrors, windows and personal entertainment.

Although the LF-LC features a variety of modern technologies throughout the cabin, it also blends old-world charm in the way of leather and suede upholstery as well as wood accents and brushed metal trim. In a nod to the LF-LC's sporty character, the interior comes equipped with lightweight, race-inspired front seats and a lightweight steering wheel with an integrated starter button.

"This thought-provoking design exercise is a stunning expression of creativity," said Templin. "Combined with a next-generation hybrid powertrain, this concept promises a rewarding driving experience that is also kinder to the environment."©(Copyright Canadian Auto Press)]]>
